Mike Sonder on Instagram: "Texas Shuffle practice with @jamaaagram ππ This is one of the areas of overlap between Blues and Jazz that seems to be less well known in the Lindy scene. It's one of my favorite Blues styles, and I'm hoping more people start dancing it. π The musical sub-genre is West Coast Blues- note the walking bass, smooth shuffle, and distinctive guitar tone. The dance is descended from Sand (sub-style of Tap) but with a partner. The partnering uses stretch, compression, passes, etc primarily in closed position though also in open. There is much more to this style that I am working on- like putting tap sounds into it. π€© I've learned the foundations of this style from @the.damon.stone, and I'm hoping that in time we find more sources and connections to it. π΅Guitar Shuffle, Lowell Fulson . . . . #texasshuffle #westcoastblues #sanddance #blues #bluesdance #dancingblues #bluesdancers #bluesdancing #letsdance #partnerdance #dancer #socialdance #socialdancers #improvisation #improviseddance #musicality #fortheloveofblues #dancepractice #dancetraining #dancelife #dancersofinstagfram #keeplearning #alwayslearning #keeppracticing #practicemakesproggress #professionaldancer #danceinstructor #danceteacher #danceteachers #danceteacherlife"
